COMMODITY MARKET STRATEGY 03 NOVEMBER 2014

BASE METAL WRAP:

Nickel fell for the first time in five days after data showed continued manufacturing weakness in China, damping the outlook for demand in the world’s largest metals consumer.

ENERGY WRAP:

West Texas Intermediate fell for a third day, the longest losing streak in more than two weeks, as an official gauge from China showed factory output slowed in the world’s second-largest oil consumer. Brent slid in London.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP:

Gold traded within 40 cents of a four-year low after the Bank of Japan boosted stimulus and the Federal Reserve ended asset purchases, highlighting divergent central-bank policies and hurting bullion demand as the dollar climbed. Silver retreated to the lowest level since 2010.

Copper lead most industrial metals lower after factory and retail-sales data signalled further slowing in China, the world’s biggest user.

ENERGY WRAP:
West Texas Intermediate and Brent crude declined for a second day as China’s industrial output expanded at the weakest pace since the global financial crisis.

COMMODITY MARKET STRATEGY 03 SEPTEMBER 2014


BASE METAL WRAP: Copper advanced in London as U.S. manufacturing expanded at the quickest clip in three years and construction spending rebounded, signaling increased demand.

ENERGY WRAP: Natural gas prices dropped on Tuesday after weather forecasting models called for falling temperatures across the U.S., which should cut into the need for air conditioning and thus reduce demand for the commodity at the nation's thermal power plants. Oil prices dropped on Tuesday due to mounting concerns that global supply is far outreaching demand, while a stronger U.S. dollar also bruised the commodity.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP: Gold futures extended losses on Tuesday, slumping to more than two month lows as the broadly stronger dollar dampened investor demand for the precious metal.

COMMODITY MARKET STRATEGY 02 SEPTEMBER 2014


BASE METAL WRAP: Aluminium led most industrial metals higher as worse-than-expected manufacturing data in China and the euro area increased speculation of more economic stimulus. Copper fell in London on signs that factory demand will slow in China, the world’s largest consumer of the industrial metal.

ENERGY WRAP: West Texas Intermediate crude fell amid speculation that weakening manufacturing from Germany to China will cap demand for oil. Brent was steady in London.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP: Gold extended a declined from a one-week high, retreating for a third day, as investors weighed the health of the global economy against tension between Ukraine and Russia.

INDIAN BENCHMARK open higher with the Nifty rising above 7900


INDIAN BENCHMARK open higher with the Nifty rising above 7900 level supported by positive global cues, and capital goods, oil & gas, banks and metals stocks.

FURTHER, Aurobindo Pharma will be expanding the capacity of its active pharmaceutical ingredients ( APIs) unit (unit-11) in Vizag this fiscal. Indian Oil Corp is reportedly planning to raise processing of cheaper crude oil varieties to 30% by 2017-18.

ITC fell nearly 3% on reports the Centre is planning to introduce tougher provisions under law to curb tobacco consumption in the country.

Shares of Tata Motors jumped 3 percent, riding on its Jaguar Land Rover July sales number. The luxury car business sold 39467 units (up 12.2 percent) as compared to 35162 units in the same period last fiscal.

Shares of Tata Power jumped over 4 percent as state electricity regulator Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has granted 25 years distribution licence to Tata Power for supplying power in city and suburban areas.

Indian Benchmarks Mark Nearly 2-1/2 Week Closing High Ahead Of Modi's Independence Day Speech

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS rose for a fourth consecutive session to its highest close in nearly two-and-a-half weeks.

• Further, India’s wholesale price (WPI) inflation eased to a five-month low in July, helped by a moderation in fuel costs. The WPI rose 5.19% year-on-year last month, its slowest pace since February. In June, prices rose 5.43% from a year earlier.

• Financial Technologies has announced the results for the quarter ended June 30, 2014 net profit of the company rose by 57.92% to Rs128.25 crore Vs Rs81.21 crore YoY.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS ended flat ,late recovery.

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS end flat amid choppy trading session as investors turned cautious on lower industrial growth and rising CPI in July. Heavy selling led the Indian stock markets to slip in to the negative territory during the day.

·         Further, Jaiprakash Associates fell 9.16%, after the company posted a net loss of Rs80.61 crore in Q1 June 2014 compared with net profit Rs334.51 crore in Q1 June 2013.

·         Bank of Baroda fell 3.73%, after the central bank restricted foreign institutional investors from buying additional shares in the bank as their shareholding has reached the limit.

·        SBI surprises street, Q1 profit rises 3% to Rs 3349 cr

State Bank of India surprised street with the first quarter (April-June) net profit rising 3.3 percent year-on-year to Rs 3,349 crore on higher net interest income though it was impacted by higher provisions, tax cost and lower other income. Net profit in the year-ago period was Rs 3,241.08 crore. The growth in profitability was for the first time in last six quarters.

·        M&M Q1 standalone profit beats estimate

Mahindra and Mahindra has reported a 4.3 percent growth in first quarter (April-June) profit at Rs 896.4 crore compared to Rs 859.8 crore in same quarter last year driven by operational performance.

·        Siemens bags orders from Reliance Industries for supply of steam turbines

Siemens announced that it has received orders for approximately Rs 228 crores from Reliance Industries Ltd for supply of four 600 Steam Turbogenerator units for its Jamnagar Refinery.

·        Chambal Fertilisers Q1 PAT declines 28% to Rs 80.8 cr

Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Q1FY15 (April-June) net profit declined 28.5 percent to Rs 80.8 crore from Rs 113 crore in a year ago period. Net sales of the company were up 18 percent at Rs 1,994 crore versus Rs 1,687 crore, Y-o-Y.

ENERGY WRAP: Brent and West Texas Intermediate crude climbed for a second day after U.S. President Barack Obama authorized air strikes in Iraq, the second-biggest oil producer in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

India Cements has posted a net loss of Rs 2.96 crore in the quarter ended June 2014 as against profit of Rs 16.8 crore in the year-ago period but the loss was reduced compared to loss of 30.56 crore in January-March quarter.

·        Jubilant Industries drops on poor Q1 nos

Jubilant Industries slipped nearly 17% after reporting a consolidated net loss of Rs18.90 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2014 (Q1), due to lower operational income and higher interest cost. The agrochemicals company had loss of Rs16.96 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.

·        Rail stocks suge after Cabinet clears 100% FDI in railways

Shares of railways have rallied after the Union Cabinet cleared the proposal to allow 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) in railway infrastructure.

IDBI bank has posted a net profit of Rs. 1048.10 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2014 as compared to Rs. 3069.50 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2013.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS fell on weak global cues.

The government is planning to sell 5% stake in SAIL and 10% each in RINL and HAL in the present fiscal.   FURTHER, Bata India declined 1.99% after net profit fell 4.1% to Rs 59.39 crore on 8.6% rise in net sales to Rs 621.58 crore in Q2 June 2014 over Q2 June 2013. 

Hero MotoCorp lost 1.88% after net profit rose 2.58% to Rs 562.76 crore on 14% increase in total income to Rs 7,149.59 crore in Q1 June 2014 over Q1 June 2013.
